Mission Statement

The mission of the State of New Hampshire Division of Veterans Services is to assist Veterans who are residents of New Hampshire or their dependents in securing all benefits or preferences to which they may be entitled under any state or federal laws or regulations.

We are not the Veterans Administration!

The VA has a customer Service Center in the Norris Cotton Federal Building in Manchester, NH.  Contact them for any circumstance needing immediate attention.  They are located at 275 Chestnut Street on the 6th floor.  The VA’s contact number is 1-800-827-1000.

Records, ID Cards and Other Benefits Assistance

If you need to obtain military discharge records such as a DD 214 please visit www.archives.gov.

If the Veteran’s home of record is New Hampshire, you may find records assistance at the NH Department of Military Affairs and Veterans Services Military Archives.

A military ID card is, in essence, a VA healthcare eligibility card and is applied for at the VA Medical Center in Manchester or online at www.va.gov.  Sites are also located throughout New Hampshire and the other New England states where you or your family members can obtain reproductions when needed.  Find the ID Card location most convenient to you at this link.

For information regarding Veteran burials please contact the NH State Veterans Cemetery at (603) 796-2026 or visit them at www.nhsvc.com.

Schedule a Benefits Review

To schedule a benefits review with a Veterans Services Officer (VSO), please refer to the VSO webpage.  All appointments are scheduled through our office at (603) 624-9230.

New Hampshire Laws Related to Veterans

New Hampshire offers a variety of protections and benefits to Veterans who reside in the state.  Some apply statewide and others, like reductions in property taxes, are specific to each town/city.  The NH State Benefits Guide lists all the benefits available and contains hyperlinks to the related state law if applicable.  Refer to the right sidebar for more helpful Veterans information and links.  Or, visit the NH State Benefits for Veterans page.

For more information on the property tax credits in each town/city, refer to the Department of Revenue Administration site's Frequently Asked Questions--Veterans' Tax Credit and Veteran Exemption where you can do a property tax credit search for your town/city and access related forms.
